Joby Ohio Factory Fueled For Takeoff
Joby Aviation’s January 7–8, 2026 headline is the kind investors secretly love - not a flashy concept video, but an actual “more than 700,000 square-foot” manufacturing facility. Located in the Dayton-area, Joby says the site is ready for immediate use, with operations expected to begin this year. The company announced it has signed an agreement to acquire the property as part of scaling production for its electric air taxis.
According to Joby’s Form 8-K, Joby Aero entered into a purchase and sale agreement to buy a property described as approximately 728,000 square feet at 1669 Capstone Way, Vandalia, Ohio for $61,500,000, with a $1,000,000 escrow deposit. The filing also notes the company can terminate for certain title objections by January 15, 2026, and that closing is expected no later than February 27, 2026. This is Joby leaning into a “build it where you can hire it” strategy — expanding its dual-site manufacturing across California and Ohio. The purchase of this new facility is directly aligned with its plan to double production to four aircraft per month in 2027. Joby also pointed investors to recent manufacturing milestones it’s already executed, including an expanded facility in Marina, California and the start of propeller blade production in Ohio - plus ongoing equipment procurement and hiring to support increased output. While another big building in Ohio isn’t exactly meme-fuel, it is the rare growth-company headline that comes with a measurable unit investors understand - square footage. If Joby’s long-term story is "quiet aircraft, loud demand", this move is simply "more factory, more throughput". SPONSORED CONTENT
