🤷‍♂️Meta Invites Google’s AI Into Its Ad House

2 Minute Read • Posted Sep 26, 2025

Meta has always insisted its home-grown AI could one day transform advertising. But in a twist worthy of a Silicon Valley rom-com, the social media giant is now in talks to bring Google’s Gemini AI into its ad-tech arsenal. According to Reuters, Meta is exploring the use of Gemini to sharpen targeting — essentially admitting that sometimes it’s easier to outsource your brainpower than to wait for your teenager (in this case, its in-house models) to grow up.

The move is hardly a breakup, but it does have shades of romantic comedy drama: Meta, long devoted to building its own large language models, is suddenly seen sneaking text messages to its neighbor, Google. The plot thickens when you realize they’ve been rivals for years in the ads market — now possibly working side-by-side to decide whether you want sneakers or a smoothie. Who says enemies can’t be… partners?

Investors have mostly welcomed the courtship. Better ad performance means more revenue, and more revenue keeps Wall Street happy. Meanwhile, Google gets bragging rights: its AI isn’t just good enough for its own empire, but also for the company once known as Facebook. The message to the market? Even titans of tech sometimes borrow a cup of sugar — or in this case, a trillion-parameter model.

If Meta and Google really do pair up, your next ad might actually be useful — or at least less creepy. And if nothing else, it’s comforting to know that even multi-billion-dollar corporations occasionally swipe right on each other.
